Please don't steal my ART!

While blog-hopping I became aware of a problem that I hadn't known anything about previously.  Art Piracy.  Apparently some people think it's ok to go on other people's blogs, websites, etc, and copy images of artwork and then paste it on their own blog, passing it off on their own.  What pleasure they get out of this I can't imagine, but it happens.
While I don't think for one minute that anyone would want to pass off my work as theirs (sometimes I'd rather not pass my own work off as my own!), it got me thinking and I made this postcard, featuring this cutie (free image from the Graphics Fairy).

Lovely postcard Jo.
I've never understood Art Piracy (or any form of cheating) either.

It's one thing when we take an image we've found and use it in something that is ours that we're never going to make a profit from and it's just PART of something else we make (And I would never do that with an image of a finished page) but I too don't get it when people do what you're describing. Not happened to me as far as I know so far, but I have other online friends who have been victims to it.

Hi Jo,
This is so unfortunate, I cannot comprehend what someone feels they are reaping by stealing another's work...
...but on the positive side, I love the postcard you created, proof once again, that inspiration can come from anywhere.
blessings,
Kimberly

It's pretty sad that a person has such low self esteem that they need to claim what rightfully belongs to someone else as their own- simply in order to elevate themselves. People don't understand that they always get their just reward. What you do to others, you do to yourself.

Heh Jo I'm with you on this - while I love the inspiration and ideas I get from others I cannot for the life of me understnd what pleasure one would get claiming someone elses art as their own. Wish there was a way to deliver a painful rap on the wrist via the web to these criminals (hmmm maybe a little electronic zap!) Jewels

Great job on the button, it turned out so cute! Sad that you had to make a button for this purpose though. I sure hope it helps keep those meanies away!!
