Billy 'the Cormorant' Maloney

Billy 'the Cormorant' Maloney
A double page spread completed in my Collage Coterie altered book.

It started with the old photograph of the man who looked to me like he could be in 'The Mob' with his spats, gloves and James Cagney expression, and then I thought the picture of the Cormorant looked just like him, with the black and white clothing and, well, James Cagney expression!

Why the countryside background?  Well, mainly I just liked the colours behind the black and white and also the bindweed could be quite symbolic couldn't it?!

Hi!!
I really like that layout, I love seeing the similarities between two different worlds! I did a page for my portfolio and there were two pink flowers touching petals and then a picture beside it of two people kissing. The more you looked, the more similar they become! Hope you had a great weekend!

Jo, you are always spot on with your choice of images and subtle visual humor. I also like that you don't limit yourself to pretty, dreamy women, but choose some rather challnging men too!

BTW, I am taking your Pay It Forward challange and will schedule a post for it this week. Glad I stopped by today!

What a hoot Jo - he really is quite the dandy isn't he! I love all the elements your brought together. I'm busy deciding what to do with Mary's challenge (while trying to get my vintage note cards done) - look forward to seeing yours. Never a lack of artistic "opportunities". J

I love it Joanna - the juxtaposition of the two photos is inspired.

I love putting things like this together. Things can often look unrelated, but there is a connection in there, tucked away in the ones mind.

Great work!

From what I have seen your altered book is going to be such a romantic collection. Looks like a nice project to work on here and there too.

"dear old bean . . ." You have to love that!
We have tons of cormorants here in Florida. They are so wild they way they dive under water. I like him opposite the man. A great spread, you have been busy!!
