Creative swaps - vintage notecards

I Have a Great Mind
I'm taking part in Lenna's (creative swaps) latest swap, which is Vintage Notecards.  I've made 3 as requested.

Merrily Sing
The backgrounds are all original vintage book papers/letters/music score which has then been lightly gesso'd.  The main images are all from a (very tatty) Girls Own Annual, dated 1885.  So fairly vintage!
A Birthday Letter
I used watercolour crayon around the outside, which I hope isn't too bright, but they really did need some colour or they would have been too bland.

Finally I added vintage style ribbons, braid and buttons.  I stamped the envelopes and added the same colour edging.

I'll be sending them off to Lenna in USA tomorrow and look forward to receiving 3 back from other swappers in due course.

These are wonderful vintage note cards, Joanna. I especially love the buttons, lace and bits of fabric you added. The hint of watercolor crayon around the edge is perfect! Of course, I love that you decorated the envelopes too. I so look forward to seeing these in person. Thanks for sending them off with plenty of time. Oh! I love your new blog design -fabulous!

Hi Jo

What lovely notecards. I LOVE all the trimmings.

I am really surprised to read that the Girls Own Annual was around in 1885.... I don't know why but I am!

Ohhh cool new blog look!!! A new look for the new year, I like it! These notcards turned out beautiful, I like the birthday letter best of all with the sweet detailing in the corner. I have a bunch of hand stamps that I love finding good use for so your envelopes get two thumbs up as well!! Have a great day!!
