And to bring back some happy memories of those days when we actually had summers.

Ok, hands up who remembers this then......?
And for a bonus point, what year?
(no conferring, no phone a friend lifeline etc).

1970? - remember it was the summer I did exams and I think it was A level. Showing my age here!

Congratulations, give that girl a banana! It's funny that I remember it so well because I was only 6 - I was obviously a groovy baby!

You can have some of our heat in exchange for rain. It's 37.22 here in Kerrville, there is no way it is not summer. It is so warm we sit inside for our nightly wine rather than watching the sun set from the deck.

well, I had to laugh because here in North CArolina we have had temps in the 90's for most of May and June so summer is alive and well here!

Ours has been
slightly derailed....
We've had one day
at 103 F but more
in the 60's and 70's.
Of course, as my
hubby reminds me,
summer doesn't officially
begin until the 21st!

Oh I like that made me giggle - no idea about the song although the name Mungo Jerry rings a bell?

It was the first single I ever bought so I remember it well. (I was about 13 at the time!)

Oh I remember it well. I thought it was 1972. I lived in Kent then, can remember swimming in a bright pink bikini. Summer seemed to last forever. I was always suntanned, last time I had a proper tan we were in Kent again! years ago when the kids were littlies. So the weather has gone bonkers there too. Can you have SAD in the middle of Summer?

(Wry smile) I am wondering when summer will arrive!
I did like Mungo Jerry, i'm guessing I was about 15 when that sing was released, making it early 70's?

Haha. Yes, summer has definitely disappeared. I just hope it hasn't gone for good! 1972 maybe? I still love this song. pen x

Oh goodness ain't that the truth...it is hammering it down here. As for Mungo, brings memories of a childhood filled with cold snowy winters and hot summers, clackers, Raleigh Choppers, 4 fruit salad sweets for a 1d, Spirograph and Jelly and pink Blamange for Sunday tea. Those were the days.

That FB graph is hilarious! I missed seeing it.
I'd forgotten who sang that song. My foot can't keep still when I hear it. :) thanks for the memory!

Very creative, Joanna!

As for summer, please, please take ours, will you? I just left a comment in another blog, mentioning that we have been getting up around five in the morning, just to enjoy a few hours outside on the deck, or working in the garden. Between nine and ten, we are inside again! Yuk!

Yes, I remember the song. My brother and his friends would play it all the time, while I was listening to Ray Conniff... oh boy!

Yup. I remember it. I was in the jungle at the time, but we did get Armed Forces Radio and it was ALWAYS summertime where we were!

No clue about the song but the installing summer thing is so clever. Seemed so true here (northern California) until the last 10 days or so. But now it's HOT!

I remember it well and yes, the summers were HOT! We were on holiday in Cornwall and me newly pregnant with my one and only son Aaron. It all seems such a long time ago now. Happy memories! LLX
