Summer of Colour - Red

(Ladybird, ladybird)
This week's colour chosen by

with a bonus go in the goodies draw
if 'Wings' are included.

I hummed and ha'd and then played
the word association game with myself
(I know, I need to get out more).

To me
of course,

I lined my journal pages with
vintage paper
torn from various books
and then gessoed over the top,
wiping off the excess.
I drew the ladybird on water colour paper
painted it with acrylic paint, gave the
wings a bit of a shimmer and
then stuck it on the page.

I wrote the first line of the
nursery rhyme using letters
clipped from magazines.
Although these letters are in bright colours
and are spelling out a child's nursery rhyme,
I wanted to give it a sinister edge and so
suggest that the sentence is,
in fact,
an instruction from an
anonymous malefactor.

Poor old Ladybird,
will she get home in time......?

Thank you for looking,
and an extra thank you if you leave a comment
(I really like to know if you've visited my blog
because I like to visit yours too!).

Love the extra "twist" on this where you have used blackmail type lettering. Great response to the title!

I think Anthony Hopkins could have sent this in an extra stylish version of one of his sinister films. I can image him sitting there stroking the image, er is it just me?

I played the word association came too. I found that red made me feel hot and bothered!!!!

The ransom style letters do give the page a feeling of suspense......

Have a great week

I love this page!!! Did you cut out all those letters one at a time just for this or do you cut them out and hang on to them for when you need them? I have a HUGE stack of old magazines so this gives me ideas!!
