Boo hoo :(
It's the last week of creative inspiration
and artistic fun
with
It's been fantastic fun
and I have been amazed at all the
different interpretations of the weekly
ice cream flavour prompt.
| (Strawberries) |
This week the flavour is........
Watermelon Ice.
Those are chocolate chips rather
than melon pips!
I did another double page
spread in my Moleskine,
using the love poem
'Strawberries' by Edwin Morgan,
which is largely obscured by
my rather large strawberry
but is as follows,
"There were never strawberries
like the ones we had
that sultry afternoon
sitting on the step
of the open french window
facing each other
your knees held in mine....."
it goes on
"the blue plates in our laps
the strawberries glistening
in the hot sunlight
we dipped them in sugar
looking at each other
not hurrying the feast
for one to come
the empty plates
laid on the stone together
with the two forks crossed
and I bent towards you
sweet in that air
in my arms
abandoned like a child
from your eager mouth
the taste of strawberries
in my memory
lean back again
let me love you
let the sun beat
on our forgetfulness
one hour of all
the heat intense
and summer lightning
on the Kilpatrick hills
let the storm wash the plates"
Thank you, Kristin, for another
6 weeks of wonderful fun :)

Firstly I love that you weren't tempted to draw a watermelon and instead chose a strawberry! This is gorgeous and I like the way you put the strawberry in front of the script! This peom is beautiful - it evokes such a strong image and makes me wish I was the person it referred to - love, sunshine and strawberries - sounds perfect!

I LOVE your
strawberry
pages!!! You
could absolutely
make prints of
that....and the
poem makes it
that much more
sweet.
xo Suzanne
PS: I read 50 Shades
of ICK, too. Felt the
same way....actually
tossed it in the garbage
when I finished it, as
that is where it belongs.
17 July 2012 13:48
I am in love with your handwriting! And that poem is beautiful! Have to check out the poet ...
17 July 2012 16:28
That strawberry is incredible!! You always choose the perfect text for your images! I really like the watermelon ice title stamped on the side, and is that a crossword puzzle peeking through the background. Finally, I love those page edges. I think I see wild and reckless on the previous page. So these all in one book? That's so fun!!
