Fall Fearless and Fly - Week 3

It's Week 3 at
and although late I thought I'd join in
having been inspired by my sister-in-law,
(Pop over and see what she's done
this week by clicking HERE).
However, I did find this week's prompts tricky.

There are 3 prompts from which one or more can be used;

Headline Prompt; Triumphs and Defeats: What do you see as your greatest triumphs and defeats?  What have they taught you?  Which have you learned more from?
Color Prompt: Black and White
Quote Prompt: Not in the clamor of the crowded street, not in the shouts and plaudits of the throng, but in ourselves, are triumph and defeat.  Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

(The Sun'll Come Out Tomorrow)
I decided to choose the Black and White
and Triumphs and Defeats prompts.
The stylized sunburst stamp is hand carved.

I have had a few challenging situations to
deal with in my lifetime (like most people)
but as difficult as those periods of time might
have been, I always held on to the belief that
things would get better.
Just like the song 'Tomorrow' in the film Annie.

I think we learn so much about ourselves when
dealing with both triumph (when earned) and
defeat and I agree with the line,
"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

 with this prompt click

I enjoyed taking part in this challenge and it's helped to kickstart my recent dearth of creativity,
but I'm not overly happy with this piece
so I'm now working on another one......

I always find songs inspire me when no ideas pop up.

Jo I LOVE what you have done!

Your hand carved stamp is amazing... as are the colours and stamped words. I love the doodled swirls especially :)

My nan always said 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger'... so true!!!!

Be happy with it.... it's great but I'm also looking forward to seeing another one too!

ps thank you for the mention (blush) x

There is amazing depth in your piece, and I really love the muted palette.

Yes I agree with everything you say, sad as it may be we seem to learn more through adversity. I am sure when the winter season arrives your creative urges will be back with a bang.

I think it is wonderful! When I made my black and white piece it took me quite a few tries - there were several abandoned pages/canvases for it. Working without color is really tough for me. I love that song and the rays in your piece are perfect! So glad you are a part of Fall Fearless and Fly!

This is beautiful! I thought that sticking to just black and white was really challenging, too. Yours is just wonderful. I love your stamp and your shades of gray... Fits perfectly with your song quote! Have a great weekend, kathy

There's so much wisdom in song words! I love your artwork - I would be most pleased (and surprised!) to have created that.

Great artwork Jo! I keep telling myself .."These things are sent to try us.." and I agree that we do learn through adversity.
Have a fabulous weekend.

PS I had no idea Missy K was your SIL-I've only been getting to know her art recently thru Paint Party Fridays :)
